The Veteran Card provides access to a range of existing healthcare benefits and can also be used at some businesses.
Healthcare
There is no change to how you use your card to access healthcare benefits and DVA-funded mental health treatment, if required. You continue to use your card – whether it be your existing DVA health card or your replacement Veteran Card – for this purpose.
Business benefits and offers
Businesses participating in the program are diverse.
There are some businesses where sighting the Veteran Card or DVA health card is all they need. You walk into the business, show your card, and benefits or offers are applied in-store at the time of purchase.
Many larger businesses have different systems to recognise the card and apply benefits and discounts.
DVA is working with Australian Partners of Defence (APOD) – an Australian-owned organisation which was founded by veteran families, for veteran families – to work with businesses to accept the Veteran Card.
There are a number of ways you can access offers available on the APOD website. Each business offer provides details of how you access the offer.
Businesses may also opt to display advertising in-store – for instance in shop windows or near cash registers – showing they support the Covenant and offer benefits to Veteran Card holders.
For more information about participating businesses and how to gain access to the full range of businesses and their benefits and offers, see Participating businesses page.
